Invitation to Festo Online Press Conference: Preview to the Hannover Messe Trade Fair

Festo

The motto of the Hannover Messe 2018 trade fair is “Integrated Industry – Connect and Collaborate”. What new chances do we see for Festo and our customers in a digitalised production world? Will we work differently in the smart factory of the future, and what will our workplace then look like? And how will artificial intelligence and robotics support us? Festo will provide answers to these questions at the Online Press Conference, where the new bionic projects will also be introduced for the first time.

We cordially invite you to our Online Press Conference on Tuesday 27th March 2018

The topics in summary:

The networking of humans, machinery and IT will shape the production of tomorrow
We want to make our customers even more productive; the effective networking of humans, machinery and IT is a significant success factor here. Festo is meeting this challenge and is playing a major role in shaping Industry 4.0 and the production of the future. Dr Frank Melzer, appointed to the Management Board of Festo in October 2017, outlines the status and potential of the digitalisation of automation.
Speaker: Dr Frank Melzer, Member of the Management Board Product and Technology

Learn I Build I Operate I Inspire – the digital customer journey

We accompany our customers on the digital journey through their individual points of contact with Festo. From initial learning experiences in Industry 4.0, to the real systems-engineering process, and up to the commissioning, monitoring and servicing of our components, we offer a comprehensive range of tools and products. For this purpose, we are uniting application knowledge and digital expertise and are taking the lead in the field of digitalisation in automation and technical education. On the basis of specific examples, we demonstrate the benefits to be brought about by digitalisation.
Speaker: Andreas Oroszi, Head of Digital Business

Innovations from the Bionic Learning Network in 2018: Future working environment

At the Hannover Messe trade fair in 2017, Festo demonstrated with the BionicCobot how humans can cooperate with lightweight pneumatic robots. This year, along with further Future Concepts, the engineers from the Bionic Learning Network are presenting a ground-breaking working environment for human-machine collaboration. They have extended the capabilities of the BionicCobot: thanks to simple operability, position monitoring and speech control in combination with machine learning and artificial intelligence, humans and robots can cooperate intuitively and efficiently. The robot is connected to IT systems from the field of artificial intelligence; these are able to understand and interpret questions spoken by humans. The operator can thus cooperate intuitively with the robot.
Speaker: Dr Elias Knubben, Head of Corporate Bionic Projects

Maximizing Motor Efficiency: Navigating the Impact of VFDs on Motors

Running a motor directly from the power source produces uniform, sinusoidal waveforms but wastes energy due to continuous speed operation regardless of the load requirements. To enhance efficiency, variable frequency drives (VFDs) control motor speed, reduce energy consumption, and minimize equipment wear. However, VFDs use pulse-width modulation (PWM) to supply electrical pulses instead of a… Read More…
