Panel Builder System Integrator

Founded in May 1964 By J.W. Kerr, Jim Wilson, President of Canada Electric and James Wilson President of the Canadian Electrical Contractors Association, Kerrwil Publications Limited has grown into the oldest privately held publishing company in Canada.

Being a member of the industry first and publisher second has separated us from every competitor we have had. Leading the industry, challenging the status quo and building with a focused eye on the future is what has made Kerrwil a well-established and respected name in Canadian publishing community.

Kerrwil has been active in many industry associations including the Canadian Business Press – where both J.W. (Jack) Kerr and John Kerr served as Chairman. Kerrwil is an active member today with the Canadian Business Press, Magazines Canada, BPA Worldwide, and the Canadian Circulations Audit Board.

Kerrwil has nurtured its reputation for being the best we can at what we do. Understanding and meeting our advertisers’ expectations and providing new methods and solutions that generate above average returns is what we do in print, online, and on site.

While our mandate is to serve the industry first, decades of publishing expertise has led to establishing best practices in publishing in print and on line that dramatically separate us from the competition.

Today, we remain committed to the principles that have brought us this far:

  1. Ongoing investment in audited circulation
  2. Delivering editorial excellence and authority
  3. Actively support the industries we serve
  4. Setting the benchmark for best practices in publishing
  5. Researching, evaluating and sharing superior market knowledge

Kerrwil is your market resource.

One of Canada’s largest wastewater treatment plants at Annacis Island provides secondary treatment to approximately 175 billion litres of wastewater every year for over 1 million residents in 14 municipalities. After almost 20 years in operation, the variable frequency drives supporting the critical pumping systems for the primary treatment and secondary treatment facilities had to be replaced to ensure that the plant’s high operational availability and reliability will not be compromised in serving the plant, the surrounding municipalities and the environment. Metro Vancouver Regional District chose to deploy Rittal’s enclosure and power distribution solutions with E-plan software to efficiently support vital infrastructure improvements by reducing equipment replacement times and thereby minimizing risk to plant operations.

ABB to Upgrade Paper Machine Drives, Motors and Electrical Control Systems at Westrock Mill in Washington, USA

ABBWestRock Company—a provider of differentiated paper and packaging solutions—has selected ABB to replace its dry end drive system. This includes upgrades to its PM12 paper machine drives, motors and the installation of the ABB Ability System 800xA control system at its mill in Longview, Washington, USA. Installation and commissioning of the project is planned for completion by year-end 2020.

“ABB was chosen for this project based on the customer’s positive experience with our drives systems at its Longview mill and other WestRock sites,” said Steve St. Jarre, Head of Business Development, Pulp and Paper, Process Industries, ABB.

How Collaborative Robots Fit Into the Production Facilities of the Future

Collaborative RobotsThe relationship between humans and robots in manufacturing is constantly evolving. Technology advancements and safety improvements have made it possible for manufacturers to move robots out from behind the cage to interact more closely with workers. Depending on the type of application, this collaboration can open new possibilities for increased productivity, efficiency, and flexibility.

That said, collaborative robots, or cobots, are not going to replace traditional robots entirely. Instead, cobots serve as just another tool in the toolbelt when determining the right equipment to implement on the factory floor.
