Panel Builder System Integrator

Unplanned downtime is a difficult challenge to address. The good news is that a majority of unplanned downtime can be mitigated. How?

DCS 2 HPS Encapsulated Transformer 400There are many requirements to meet when specifying transformers, such as basic performance parameters that include kVA, low and high voltage ratings, line frequency, etc. One must also consider the environment in which the transformer will be used. It is common in many industrial locations to find hazardous materials such as flammable liquids, gasses, vapors or combustible dusts in sufficient concentration to produce an explosion or fire.

PBSI 1 CB 400The craft brewing industry in Canada is a niche market that has gained prominence over the past decade, with considerable growth in recent years. The industry’s commitment to innovation and quality has allowed small, locally owned operations to infiltrate a market primarily dominated by a few multi-national corporations.

NickB IdealSupply PBSI 400Automated vending solutions can help distributers manage customers inventory and reduce waste throughout various industries. They can allow manufacturers the ability to better track inventory, as well as regulate the consumption of everyday-use items like gloves, ear plugs, and tie back sleeves.

Removable USB media devices such as flash drives are commonplace and convenient when it comes to sharing information – those tiny flash drives can hold a lot of data.

For today’s manufacturers, a flexible plant floor is a business imperative. As product SKUs continue to increase, manufacturing equipment simply must be more agile to accommodate more product variations – faster than ever before.

Cyber 400A scene we see all too often.  A busy coffee shop full of patrons sipping their favourite hot beverage, with the glow of laptops and iPads eagerly using up the available free Wi-Fi. Little do they know, this ubiquitous activity can open the door for cyber criminals to steal identities, data and attack any networks they are connected to.

In the case of many industrial settings, the IIoT is considered the answer for numerous challenges. The connectivity that’s the result of it assists in efficiency, productivity, and profitability. When it comes to utilities, IIoT helps manage the demand, and for public infrastructure, it can help governments in delivering better services, which include public safety as well.

For many design engineers, one of the central, day-to-day challenges is getting and providing information. Syngineer, an innovative cloud solution from EPLAN and its affiliate CIDEON, can help master this challenge. The software accelerates and simplifies coordination in engineering – specifically between mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and PLC/software. The system ensures better collaboration by promoting cross-departmental information exchange.

You have a strong industrial security program in place. You’ve cleaned up with good cyber hygiene and have implemented intrusion detection systems to avoid future incidents. But in the complex world of cybersecurity, you can’t stop there.

One of Canada’s largest wastewater treatment plants at Annacis Island provides secondary treatment to approximately 175 billion litres of wastewater every year for over 1 million residents in 14 municipalities. After almost 20 years in operation, the variable frequency drives supporting the critical pumping systems for the primary treatment and secondary treatment facilities had to be replaced to ensure that the plant’s high operational availability and reliability will not be compromised in serving the plant, the surrounding municipalities and the environment. Metro Vancouver Regional District chose to deploy Rittal’s enclosure and power distribution solutions with E-plan software to efficiently support vital infrastructure improvements by reducing equipment replacement times and thereby minimizing risk to plant operations.

German Technology Day, Hosted by Rittal, Eplan, Wago and Pilz

German Technology DayOn November 19, 2019 The German Technology Day hosted by Rittal, Eplan, Wago and Pilz was held in Mississauga. The event showcased a unique conversion of 4 companies. Something that strongly resembles the collaborative efforts German companies have largely embraced and is often showcased in European shows. Although, it has yet to be fully embraced in North America.

The collaborative event allowed each company to showcase its own solutions, both new and upcoming as well as complement the ways in which the companies support and deliver solutions achieved by working together.

Three strategies for embracing and maintaining manufacturing flexibility

ManufacturingTo keep up with the demands of today’s consumer-driven economy, manufacturers are increasingly adopting flexible production strategies. This can help companies be much more responsive to the whims of the market, but it creates some new challenges in its own right. Such challenges include reduced throughput, extra complexity and high installation costs.

At Omron, we’ve devoted much of our recent efforts to helping manufacturers become and remain flexible.
