Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, the HARTING Technology Group has taken numerous measures to protect its employees on the one hand, while ensuring that customers continue to benefit from a reliable supply of HARTING products and solutions on the other. "The protection of employees, but also maintaining the supply chain, is our top priority," as Philip Harting, CEO of the HARTING Technology Group underscored. HARTING supplies renowned manufacturers of medical and respiratory equipment with customer-specific cable assemblies.

Festo’s new VMEF/VHEF directional control valves put precision actuation literally at your fingertips, or even just a pinky. A single finger can be used to activate these valves – or a hand, or a workpiece making contact with a trigger mechanism. These valves are based on touch actuation with minimal force – there is no energy to convert, no long cables or additional response time.

The newest additions to Balluff’s line of distance sensors feature selectable modes that allow users to choose between IO-Link, voltage (0…10 V or 1…10 V), or analog (4…20 mA) outputs. The two new variations — the BOD002M with a 50 to 100 mm working distance and a resolution down to 10 μm, and the BOD002N with a 50 to 650 mm working distance and a resolution down to 100 μm — combine the output modes of three previous models into one.

New expansion I/O modules from AutomationDirect for the BRX stackable micro brick PLC include communications modules, universal analog I/O modules, and universal temperature combination I/O modules. Expansion modules snap onto the side of any BRX Micro PLC Unit (MPU) or BRX Remote I/O controller, creating a sturdy and rugged PLC platform.

The Japanese electronic and machine manufacturing company Fanuc introduced its lightweight cobot at the International Robot Exhibition (iREX) in Tokyo. The new CRX-10iA weighs significantly less than Fanuc’s CR series, where the lightest model was 48kg. The manufacturer did not specify the exact weight of the new generation of cobots. According to Fanuc, the new, lighter industrial robots can be used as handling units for driverless transport systems , amongst other uses.

Emerson has released the Daniel T-200, a titanium-housed transducer, for its gas ultrasonic flow meter product line, marking the first use of metal 3D printing to enhance the acoustic performance of ultrasonic flow meters in custody transfer applications. The T-200’s robust design provides increased reliability, uptime and safety while achieving the highest accuracy class attainable in gas measurement.

One of Canada’s largest wastewater treatment plants at Annacis Island provides secondary treatment to approximately 175 billion litres of wastewater every year for over 1 million residents in 14 municipalities. After almost 20 years in operation, the variable frequency drives supporting the critical pumping systems for the primary treatment and secondary treatment facilities had to be replaced to ensure that the plant’s high operational availability and reliability will not be compromised in serving the plant, the surrounding municipalities and the environment. Metro Vancouver Regional District chose to deploy Rittal’s enclosure and power distribution solutions with E-plan software to efficiently support vital infrastructure improvements by reducing equipment replacement times and thereby minimizing risk to plant operations.
