EPLAN invited to the 7th EEC Forum

July 17, 2019

Around two hundred participants from numerous countries around the world are expected at the 7th EEC Forum, taking place from 23 to 25 September 2019 in Cologne, Germany. This international event is for companies that want to find out more about connecting configuration and automated engineering with EPLAN and exchange information. Presentations by Danfoss, FEAG Sangerhausen, Geiss AG, Lenze SE and Rockwell Automation Inc. form the centrepiece of the conference and encourage intensive networking.

Answers to the latest engineering questions are at the top of the agenda for this year’s EEC Forum. EPLAN Managing Director Haluk Menderes will be providing an overview of the company strategy and Managing Director Dr Harald Schrenk of EPLAN affiliate Cideon will take participants on a journey into the world of virtual and augmented reality. Tried and tested practical applications will be setting the tone in Cologne: electrical, fluid power and control cabinet engineering in machine and switchgear construction can all be (fully) automated based on configuration.

Practical experience to put into practice

Practically relevant presentations from renowned customers will allow participants to engage with specific applications, for instance the configuration of medium-voltage switchgear systems as presented by Heiko Koschmieder, Managing Director of FEAG Sangerhausen GmbH. Completely automated manufacturing of volume produced machines in a lot size one is another topic that Klaus Peter Welsch, CIO at Geiss AG will be introducing. Lars Ferichs, Director Configuration and Processes at Danfoss Group IT in Denmark will be describing how SAP LO-VC forms the starting point of the configuration process. The complete data package for EPLAN Data Portal in combination with a solution hosted by EPLAN will be the topic for Gerd Schüler from Lenze SE, which is sure to attract a great deal of attention from attendees. Last but not least, Sheila Quinnies, Director Enclosed Power and NEMA Business at Rockwell Automation Inc. will be taking participants on a tour of the topic “Automated Engineering with the EPLAN Workstation”.

Industry 4.0 has arrived

Visions, ideas and concepts initiated in the global 4.0 context are becoming more tangible and entering into the everyday work world. Striking examples include the digital twin and cloud technologies. Automated machine manufacturing in switchgear engineering is based on the digital twin – with an integrated digital database as its central foundation. In short, automated engineering has arrived as part of the digital transformation and seamless integration can be achieved both horizontally and vertically. This can also be experienced in person on a visit to Haiger, Germany: international participants have the opportunity to visit the Rittal Innovation Center as well as the new, highly automated AX Production Facility and get an up-close view of production in the style of Industry 4.0.

Sharing knowledge and making it usable

There’s the right programme for everyone: twelve working groups on different topics such as cloud technologies, job-server technologies, configuration and product structuring, not to mention the digital twin, are on the agenda, as are EPLAN Platform product innovations – including EPLAN Cogineer. Participants who use EPLAN and managers as well can select the appropriate topic groups from various company areas and talk with other experts.
