One of the Best: Hatch Recognized as One of the Greater Toronto’s Top Employers
December 8, 2020
Hatch has been recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers for the fifth consecutive year. This award is presented by Mediacorp Canada Inc., who highlight the best employers to work for in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The caliber of the competition is strong as the GTA features premier talent across a broad range of industries in Canada’s largest metropolitan area.
The evaluation process for this competition is meticulous and consistent, using the same eight criteria since the award’s inception twenty years ago. These eight criteria include physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial, and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and communication involvement.
Hatch takes pride in their employees and continually strives to retain their status as one of the GTA’s top employers. Hatch’s offices in the GTA are home to more than 2,000 professionals and boast amenities such as a gym subsidized for employees, community garden, cafeteria with subsidized meals, carpooling program, and many comfortable meeting spaces. In order to help accommodate employees working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hatch set up a home office reimbursement program that provided all permanent salaried employees with a one-time maximum amount of $500 for home office expenditures.
Hatch also gives back to the community through philanthropic efforts such as the Scotiabank Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation–2019 marked the eighth straight year where Hatch employees, family, and friends came together to participate. Raising more than $420,000 earned Hatch the Corporate Team Cup, which is awarded to the company that raises the most funds in a given year. This brought Hatch’s eight-year total to over $1.9 million raised.
“As an organization, it is not only imperative to take care of our people, but also to give back to our communities. Together, we will achieve our goal of building a better world through positive change.” says Mike Fedoroff, regional managing director of Western Canada.
