XP Power: Digital Programmable 3 Phase 5kW AC-DC Power Supply Offers Compact Flexible Solution – No Neutral Required
October 26, 2021
Introducing a recent addition to the high power range of digital programmable 3 phase 5kW AC-DC power supplies from XP Power offering flexible operation with uncomplicated lowline input requirements. The series is suitable for a range of industries, including equipment manufacturers in industrial electronics, process control, semiconductor fabrication, medical devices, LED lighting, water treatment and test / burn-in.
The HPL5K0 series offers both constant voltage and constant current operation, along with the flexibility and user configurability needed for applications such as LED curing and heating, 2D and 3D printing, battery charging and simulation, lasers, motor control, and water treatment.
Importantly, the HPL5K0 offers the performance of a 3 phase (3 wire + earth) power supply without the need for a neutral connection, which is often not available in industrial facilities. Additionally, the convenient input range (180VAC to 264VAC) removes the need for expensive facility upgrades that are often necessary for high power applications.
The three units in the series offer adjustable output voltages of 60VDC, 100VDC and 200VDC as well as an always-on 5V/2A standby output. Features such as remote on/off, remote sense and power OK are included on all units.
Key to the flexibility of the product is the unique digital control employed and the wide range of digital interfaces, with I2C PMBus, RS485 and CANopen being built in as well as RS232 or UART available as options. This digital control allows users to rapidly configure (and, if needed, re-configure) the PSU via a convenient graphical user interface (GUI) without the need for hardware changes, thereby reducing time to market.
Despite its power and advanced controls, The HPL5K0 is a compact unit measuring just 5.00” x 5.00” x 13.00” (127.0mm x 127.0mm x 330.2mm) allowing it to be used in modern high-density designs.
For higher power or higher voltage applications in excess of 30kW, and up to 400VDC, the HPL5K0 can be operated in a parallel or series configuration with active current sharing.
