Innovative ABB Products Premier at Data Center World 2018
February 26, 2018
ABB will unveil two of its latest products on Stand D1130 at this year’s Data Centre World, at ExCel London, March 21-22.
The first product – TruONE – is an automatic transfer switch (ATS) with connectivity and monitoring functions for critical power applications. TruONE is the world’s first true ATS to package all necessary sensors and controllers into a single, easy-to-install device that helps improve protection and makes installation 80 percent faster.
Also making its UK debut is the SMISSLINE TP Power Bar finger-safe, plug-in socket system. Designed to permit hot swapping and hot plugging, it ensures that load-free devices and components can be snapped on and off while the voltage is present.
These innovative products further extend ABB’s range of digitally connected industrial equipment and systems, combining intelligent data with intelligent power. The company has developed a three pillar approach to power and automation focusing on: elastic critical infrastructure that can expand or contract with demand; deep component visibility for simpler automation; and intelligent grid connections to give more energy management choices.
Paul Johnson, Data Segment Leader (UK) for ABB, said: “Data centers have become a fundamental part of life and the technology driving them is moving forward at a rapid pace.
“Future data centers will be able to provide critical information on infrastructure capacity and shift resources as required without any down time. In the energy sector this means intelligent grid connections, buying and selling energy, switching between grid and renewable power sources and contributing to the stability of our power supply.
“Tomorrow’s data centers will be built around components and systems with integrated communications, sensing and intelligence and the launch of TruONE and SMISSLINE TP Power Bar takes us a step closer to realizing that vision.”
ABB will also promote its new Secure Edge Date Center at the event. Developed in collaboration with Hewlett Packard Enterprises and Rittal, it is a plug and play data center, enabling real-time insight and action for small and mid-sized IT infrastructures.
Aimed at minimizing the latency in data processing typically associated with long-distance networks, Secure Edge Data Centers bring new IT capacity closer to the point of data generation. They are specifically designed to further automate the production process in plants where smart technology has already been implemented.
Other ABB products on display at this year’s Data Center World include: MNS Digital (Incorporating Emax2 Air Circuit Breaker, Ekip UP communication module and TVOC-2 Arc Guard optical arc detection system), ABB Ability™ solutions for Data Center Automation and Electrical Distribution Control (EDCS), Unigear Digital medium-voltage switchgear and protection relays, together with CMS-700 branch circuit monitoring system.
Visitors to the stand D1130 will be able to watch videos and live demonstrations of these products as well as experience first-hand all the features of the ABB Connect app on iPads and experience an ABB Data Center Virtual Tour.
