Food Island Partnership Hosts Atlantic Canada’s First Food Automation Conference
March 26, 2018
Over 100 of Prince Edward Island’s food industry networked with global technology leaders and local success stories about the latest developments in food automation and transforming food waste into increased value at Food Automation Atlantic. Food Automation Atlantic is Atlantic Canada’s first food automation conference that took place on March 21st, 2018 at the Rodd Charlottetown.
“When we reached out to over 40 food processors over the past year it became very clear that productivity improvement is a key priority of Island businesses. As such, this is the first in a series of initiatives that Food Island Partnership will be leading to connect the industry with expertise and funding opportunities in areas such as automation, productivity, and food waste reduction.” said Bryan Inglis, CEO of Food Island Partnership.
Attendees had the opportunity to network and learn from global speakers who highlighted how leading food processors are embracing sorting technology, robotics, and customized solutions to improve their business, as well as gather information about future funding opportunities.
“It has been a great opportunity to be at Food Automation Atlantic to tell our story so that Island businesses can become more aware of the support that is available and to discuss our success with automation in the potato industry” said Austin Roberts, Co-owner of RWL Holdings Ltd.
An initiative of Food Island Partnership including key funding partners Innovation PEI and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Food Automation Atlantic allowed for the food industry to unite with the intention of improving competitiveness in the market, and—ultimately—fuel innovation.
