Rockwell Automation to Showcase Digital Transformation Advances at Hannover Messe 2018

April 9, 2018

Industrial companies are taking Industrie 4.0 concepts from the drawing board to the production floor to bring new value to their operations. Rockwell Automation will demonstrate how it can help companies accelerate this digital transformation and use Industrial IoT technologies to be even more competitive at Hannover Messe 2018, April 23-27 in Hannover, Germany.

“Industrial companies are reimagining production and rewriting business goals to achieve a Connected Enterprise, and that’s only made them more eager to do more with digital technologies,” said Tom O’Reilly, vice president, global business development, Rockwell Automation. “Along with our Strategic Alliance members of our PartnerNetwork program, we will show attendees at Hannover Messe how they can gain more value from Industrie 4.0 in their operations.”

Rockwell Automation will demonstrate a range of Industrie 4.0 technologies in the Cisco, Microsoft and ODVA booths.

Cisco (Hall 6, Stand G30)

Rockwell Automation and Cisco are helping companies connect and secure their operations by bridging cultural and technological gaps in their organizations. Security, in particular, is top of mind for many companies today and will be a major focus in the Cisco booth.

Visitors to the booth can watch demos that show where potential security threats could occur and learn about security solutions that can help protect against them. And they can learn how Stratix managed switches and the Stratix 5950 security appliance, which use Cisco technology, can help protect their networks using segmentation and threat detection. Attendees can also learn how device-level analytics can improve decision-making close to the production process. The FactoryTalk Analytics for Devices appliance will be demonstrated on a process skid machine, showing alarming and other diagnostics for the machine’s control system devices.

“Cisco and Rockwell Automation have worked together for years to address the complexities of securely converging IT and OT operations in a Connected Enterprise,” said Todd Gurela, senior director, Industry Solutions Group, Cisco. “Our jointly developed design guides, technologies and training programs are helping companies address security risks, improve business performance, lower costs and reduce time to market.”

Microsoft (Hall 7, Stand C40)

Rockwell Automation continues to collaborate with Microsoft on information solutions that can help industrial companies predict performance, boost productivity and maximize asset availability.

At Hannover Messe 2018, Rockwell Automation will demonstrate FactoryTalk Analytics scalable solutions and asset performance management capabilities on a Bradman Lake end-load cartoner machine. Booth visitors will see how they can use scalable analytics and scalable compute solutions to monitor production, quality and maintenance KPIs that are relevant to their business. They also can put on a Microsoft HoloLens mixed-reality headset to see detailed machine information and diagnostics at the source, using ThinManager software.

Çağlayan Arkan, general manager, manufacturing at Microsoft Corporation said, “The scalable analytics and compute solutions that Rockwell Automation is demonstrating can turn a machine’s structured and unstructured data into advanced analytics. They can also empower an end user, OEM or automation vendor to remotely monitor a machine and improve its performance over time.”

ODVA (Hall 11, Stand E58)

Rockwell Automation will display EtherNet/IP-based control, drive and security solutions in the ODVA booth. The company will also show attendees how they can secure and simplify their networks by using the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP).

A CIP Security demo will show how companies can prevent a “man in the middle” attack from impacting a machine or facility. Attendees will see how devices running CIP Security continue to operate normally, while identical devices that lack CIP Security are compromised.

A CIP Motion and CIP Safety demo will show how motion and safety traffic can coexist on one Ethernet network.

Rockwell Automation is also collaborating with the U.S. Commercial Service in Europe and is sponsoring its USA Production Automation Pavilion at Hannover Messe 2018.

About the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork Program
The Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork program offers global manufacturers access to a collaborative network of companies mutually focused on developing, implementing and supporting best-in-breed solutions to achieve plant-wide optimization, improve machine performance and meet sustainability objectives.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
