HARTING Canada Success Story Continues with Double Digit Growth
July 24, 2018
HARTING Canada is enjoying another record year in sales and market penetration and diversification by leveraging a comprehensive customer strategy and introducing new products catering to the major trends in industry. At the company’s annual Canadian media day in Toronto, the HARTING team for Canada attributed the company’s double digit revenue growth to a strong coast-to-coast sales network, bolstered by the recent addition of Peter Hanna as territory sales manager for Ontario. It also reflects a commitment to providing unrivalled after-sales engineering support.
“Our Canadian sales strategy focuses on market diversification and developing brand awareness, while maintaining our leadership in transportation, machinery and broadcast and entertainment,” said Carl Maalouf, Director of Sales for HARTING Canada. Growth has been strong in all key markets, with notable gains in Western Canada in other sectors like data centers. The company
also keeps close to Canadian customers with the HARTING Roadshow Truck, which happens to
be visiting Quebec and Ontario this month to familiarize customers with the company’s key products. In the spring, it toured Alberta and British Columbia.
“At the same time, we have never launched so many new, ground-breaking HARTING products into the North American marketplace as we are today,” said Ashley Smith-Heine, Vice President of Sales, HARTING Americas.
HARTING’s product development strategy is focusing on the leading trends in industrial connectivity such as modularization, digitization, miniaturization and customization.
“HARTING means innovation – that’s been our story for almost three quarters of a century and it’s a big part of our success in Canada specifically and throughout the Americas,” said Smith-Heine. “Our solutions for both industrial and board-level connectivity are designed to facilitate the adoption of both conventional or advanced production concepts in factory and process automation.”
Among the innovations launched in recent months:
- The first Han-Smart® inserts for the popular Han-Modular® industrial connector series: Han-Smart® will expand the capabilities of the world’s leading user-configurable connector and marks the beginning of the transformation of connectors from passive to active devices that deliver important new benefits in the IIoT production environment;
- Award-winning iX Industrial connectors for Cat. 6A 1/10 Gigabit/s Ethernet that require 70% less installation space than an RJ45 interface, yet make an incredibly reliable, secure connection. The launch of this robust “Little Giant” is a really big deal in miniaturization;
- M8 D-Code connectors, 30% smaller than the M-12 D-Code;
- M12 PushPull connectors that eliminate the need for screwing in connections, excellent for installation in tight spaces.
Media day attendees also got a preview of HARTING’s new MICA starter kits with hardware and preloaded software ready to go. These starter kits, available starting in mid-August, make it extremely fast and simple to implement basic IIoT processes like machine and system condition monitoring, RFID tracking and shop floor level Ethernet network management using the Hermes award-winning MICA edge gateway device. Each kit is designed to get the user up and running and into IIoT in less than 10 minutes.
This kind of forward thinking is a key driver of HARTING’s growth worldwide. The family-owned company’s sales in the fiscal year ending Sept 30, 2017 rose 14.7%, including a 22% increase in the Americas with particular strength in North America. Global sales reached €672 million – the highest total in HARTING’s 72 year history.
