Legrand to Bring the Evolution of High Performance Buildings into Focus at Greenbuild 2018

October 25, 2018

Legrand will highlight the transformation of the built environment in a series of education sessions at Greenbuild 2018. The sessions are titled The Critical Role of Electrical and Digital Infrastructure in High-Performance Buildings.

The Education Lab sessions will explore the forces driving change in the built environment and how high-performance buildings are experiencing a shift in performance goals in response to issues such as the IoT and the growing availability of connected products.

“Our sessions will discuss the importance of intentional design with electrical and digital infrastructure (EDI) in building performance early in the design phase,” said Susan Rochford, Vice President, Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Public Policy, Legrand North and Central America. “When properly addressed, EDI can enhance the current and future building performance in a host of areas including occupant, health, safety, productivity, as well as overall sustainability and energy efficiency.”

Highlights of the Legrand Education Lab will include:

  • Defining the key performance attributes of a high-performance building and the connection between performance and IoT.
  • The importance of the electrical and digital infrastructure in meeting evolving performance demands and expectations in new and existing buildings.
  • Identifying metrics to measure high performance (LEED and WELL) and identify projects that have leveraged power, light and data to create high performing environments.
  • View how well-planned integrative design of electrical and digital infrastructure enables building performance in specific verticals.

Sessions will take place on November 14-15, in booth #L1441. The sessions will feature experts from three of Legrand’s business divisions: lighting, building controls and electrical wiring systems. Education Lab attendees will receive 1-credit hour from GBCI, as part of the organization’s recognition of excellence in green business industry performance and practice.
