Pilz to embrace Safety in Automation at the Hannover Messe 2019

Pilz Hannover 400

February 25, 2019

At Hall 9, Stand D17 under the motto “We automate. Safely.” Pilz will again be presenting innovative automation solutions for all industries at Hannover Messe 2019 from 1 to 5 April. Pilz will be focusing on innovations from the areas of operating and monitoring, safe sensor technology, I/O systems and services. Accompanied by: The world’s lowest profile actuator and a modular, therefore innovative operating mode selection and access permission system.

Further focal points in Hannover are Industrie 4.0 and service robotics: visitors can see a live display of the Pilz Smart Factory, a modular production line for manufacturing batch size 1 products. The Pilz Smart Factory can be seen on the Pilz stand in an expanded version with the Pilz Service Robotics Modules and an automated guided vehicle (AGV).

Modular management of the fusion of safety and security
Pilz offers efficient access and permission management that covers both safety and security specifications: with the innovative PITmode fusion there is now a modular system available for the first time. PITmode fusion consists of the reader unit PITreader with RFID technology and integrated web server and a Safe Evaluation Unit (SEU). The separation of components means that PITmode fusion can be seamlessly integrated into the design of existing control consoles. So the modular version of the operating mode selector switch opens up new application areas. The reader unit PITreader can also be used flexibly: anyone only wishing to control access permission can do this using the PITreader as a standalone device. With the relevant, writeable RFID keys you can also implement a group-based permission management. This simplifies the assignment and administration of access permissions for companies with several sites, including internationally. Administration work can clearly be reduced.

More flexibility for the second dimension …
Pilz presents a more flexible and efficient area monitoring with the light, master and slave versions of the PSENscan safety laser scanner: The Pilz safety laser scanners are now also suitable for area guarding of vertical applications such as access protection. What’s more, with PSENscan applications can now be designed with greater flexibility, which minimises downtimes and increases cost-effectiveness. PSENscan can be connected in series and enable up to 70 switchable configurations to be set up as well as simultaneous monitoring of up to three separate zones.

… and a new dimension for safety
The coded safety switches PSENcode combine maximum manipulation protection with the smallest space requirement thanks to RFID transponder technology. Now they offer another solution for space-critical applications, where height is a key factor. With a height of only 3 mm the new PSENcode low profile actuator is currently the world’s lowest profile actuator. It penetrates into the new smallest dimensions, in particular also for use on plexiglas. Thanks to this versatility, users profit from a high degree of freedom when designing the machine.

Masters Industrie 4.0 with openness
To guarantee data exchange in networked production, open communication technologies are required, which support the worldwide standard. Pilz offers the new IO Link Master module PSS u2 ES 4 IOL for the remote I/O system PSSuniversal 2. The open IO technology standardised worldwide to IEC 61131-9 supports a networked production in the spirit of Industrie 4.0. Users can save their device configurations for sensors and/or actuators and their process and device data centrally in the master module PSS u2 ES 4 IOL. When servicing or exchanging modules, it is not necessary to set the parameters again. In addition, all the data is recorded centrally, which enables faster and simpler diagnostics.

Full service for the USA
Anyone selling machinery into the USA must take care that all specifications are met to ensure that the process for obtaining an operating permit at the machinery installation site runs smoothly. That’s why Pilz is extending its worldwide portfolio for international compliance to the US market. Pilz helps manufacturers and/or exporters – from whichever country they export – to conform with all the specifications for US compliance, right through to approval by local US authorities. At the Hannover Messe 2019 the expert for safe automation will be presenting its new service “IC USA” for the first time.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
