Festo at Hannover Messe 2019: Is Automation becoming Autonomous thanks to Artificial Intelligence?

With the theme ‘Integrated Industry – Industrial Intelligence’, the most important industrial trade fair in the world took place in Hanover from 1 to 5 April 2019. On a stand area of 1,200 square metres, Festo presented the latest technologies, solutions and training programmes for the production world of tomorrow.

 The exhibition stand concept: Learn – Build – Operate – Inspire

Once again this year, several thousand customers and interested visitors visited our stand. Divided into the areas Learn, Build, Operate and Inspire, we presented everything relating to digital automation with Festo: from training and engineering to the operation of plants.

Peter Altmaier, the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, and Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, the Minister for Economic Affairs for Baden-Württemberg, were also guests at our stand and were able to get an idea of the new possibilities that artificial intelligence and collaborative robotics will open up in the working world of tomorrow.

Both received an individually produced USB stick at the end of their visit to our stand. The sticks were produced live on-site by our demonstration plant, the Productivity Master. This is a universally networked handling and software solution which shows trade fair visitors the way to digitised production.

Johnson Controls will help to improve tenant comfort levels in the Court Place Office Tower (also known as the Lubbock National Bank Building), a multitenant office building located in downtown Lubbock, Texas, through improvements to lighting, HVAC and electrical controls. Total improvements will produce savings of more than $1.6M over 20 years.

Recently, Farren Sacrest, the VP of Sales and Customer Care in the Americas for Mersen Electrical Power, was pleased to announce that effective May 17th, 2024, Paulina Chmielowska had joined Mersen Electrical Power ad Canada Distribution Customer Care Supervisor. Based out of the Mississauga, Canada site she will report to Naomi Towns, Director of Customer Care North America. Paulina most recently worked in one of the e-commerce fulfillment operators in Europe as the Client Support Team Manager responsible for scaling up their customer care division.

The Halifax Herald Ltd. in Nova Scotia is the largest independently owned newspaper publisher in Canada. The publisher has just the one press at its print site just outside Halifax. With no backup press, the commissioning of the new systems had to be undertaken without interrupting the normal daily production.
