Convergint, a global provider of service-based systems integration, recently announced a new joint venture with Chard Metis Dene Inc. (CMD), an economic development entity for the Chard Metis Community Association. Located south of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada, the Chard Metis Community Association is dedicated to prioritizing their traditions and maintaining their connection to the land and recognizes that they must strive for economic independence to preserve their ways. This unique partnership will focus on providing education and skill development, career opportunities, and community growth.

As the Chard Metis Community Association’s economic entity, CMD identifies gateways for prosperity by fostering partnerships with companies within their communities to create additional funding opportunities. All monetary proceeds derived from these partnerships help fund the Chard Metis Community Association’s cultural and social programs. Convergint’s venture with CMD will be the first Indigenous partnership of its kind to provide electronic security, fire and life safety, communications, financial safety, healthcare technologies, building automation, facility efficiency, and mechanical solutions to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, as well as other federal, provincial, and municipal clients. Additionally, Convergint remains committed to bringing technology training and employment opportunities to the community, resulting in new skill development and growth.

“It is an honor to be selected as one of CMD’s first technology partners,” said Peter Brown, Director, Convergint. “Convergint was built on a solid foundation of Values and Beliefs, and this venture aligns perfectly with them. We stand by our commitment to create new partnerships and actively participate in the communities we serve—creating job opportunities and benefitting from the diversity of culture, thought, and experience. We look forward to working alongside CMD.”

“Our community is very excited and grateful to have found a partner who not only perfectly aligns with our values, but who also puts in great effort to understand and learn about our community and our culture,” said Justin Herman, Chief Executive Officer of Chard Metis Dene Group of Companies. “This is a true partnership with a truly innovative company, which has amazing leadership and colleagues that work tirelessly to provide unparalleled service to our clients. It is strategic alliances like CMD Convergint that will help us secure our community’s future and play a role in breaking the cycle of surviving—bringing us one huge step closer to thriving.”
