Overcoming Challenges With Mazak Digital Solutions

When discussing the role of digital technology in manufacturing, many commentators outside the industry talk about it as the future. Shop owners and manufacturers, however, know that the future is already here. In this new digital age, shops must merge advanced technology and manufacturing. They’re applying innovative solutions on the factory floor as more advanced materials and complex part features find their way into everyday products. And to help shops navigate this merger, Mazak created SMOOTH TECHNOLOGY and a full suite of Mazak digital solutions.

Highly flexible robot control implemented as firmware extension based on TwinCAT

In their development of the RC9 robotics controller, DENSO WAVE and Beckhoff Japan followed a new approach by redefining the control concept for DENSO WAVE’s industrial robots. While previously all robot controls were only available as hardware, the new control system is software-based. RC9 will initially be adopted in new VM and VL series models before being gradually deployed in future products. The concept of the new control solution was presented to the media on Wednesday, 18 December 2019, at the International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo. Integrating digital platforms into the real world

Digital business platforms are an important part of HANNOVER MESSE, where they cut across multiple areas of the “Digital Ecosystems” display category. “Platform business models are the way of the future,” said Hubertus von Monschaw, Deutsche Messe’s Global Director Digital Ecosystems for HANNOVER MESSE. “While they have long been par for the course in the consumer segment, they’ve been a little slow to catch on in manufacturing. But they are indeed catching on, and there is no doubt that the platform economy will play an increasingly important role in the industrial B2B segment.”
