JetBlue Is Loading Their Aircraft Smarter with Help from Brock Solutions and SmartLoad
December 9, 2019
As flight B6 136 on October 28, 2019 had an on-time push back from Phoenix Sky Harbor bound for New York JFK, it marked the official go-live of Brock Solutions’ SmartLoad for JetBlue.
Born at JFK in 1999, and now with over 1,000 flights per day, from over 100 destinations, JetBlue is the first carrier to fully integrate their Weight and Balance (WAB) system (provided by AeroData), with SmartSuite. The SmartLoad integration with WAB enables the automation of JetBlue’s legacy manual processes that rely on multiple systems, for a more efficient aircraft loading process. This allows JetBlue to maximize fuel efficiency and help drive a streamlined aircraft turn to support on-time departure performance.
Loading an aircraft isn’t as straight forward as we may think, there is more to it than putting baggage and cargo in the aircraft’s hold. With safety being paramount, aircraft loading is a complicated process that must ensure baggage, cargo and the fuel onboard is optimized for safety and efficiency and this means that the teams on the ground must load accurately, as per the load plan. The use of SmartLoad has enhanced the ground handler experience by providing them with accurate, real-time WAB information as they load the aircraft, alerting them to load exceptions, and automating previously manual flight closeout loading activities which sends load information back to the load planner.
SmartLoad is one of the many solutions in Brock Solutions’ SmartSuite product range. SmartSuite enables airports and airlines to deploy technology solutions that provide process automation and drive performance improvements. Whether its SmartLoad or any of the other modules available, SmartSuite applications can be implemented as standalone systems or integrated with other modules, providing complete end-to-end tracking of passengers and their baggage.
