EPLAN Wins Automation Award 2020

December 7, 2020

The Automation Award was presented by the Konradin Publishing Group at the end of the virtual automation trade fair SPS Connect on 26 November 2020. Back in October, the jury had nominated EPLAN eVIEW and two other solutions for the category “Digitalization”. The jury consists of members from the scientific and research community, associations and the magazine’s editorial staff. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Oliver Riedel from the University of Stuttgart Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools, Florian Löber from the Electrical Automation Association, and Michael Corban from Konradin Publishing evaluated the submitted solutions and each year nominate three solutions each for the categories “Technology” and “Digitalization”.

After the nomination process, readers of the trade publication elektro Automation were invited to vote. Now the results are in: EPLAN eVIEW won the Automation Award for Digitalization, while first place in Technology went to ISG with its TwinStore solution. Since the trade fair took place using a virtual format this year, there was no official awards ceremony this time around.

Commitment to cloud development confirmed

“We’re very pleased that the readers of elektro Automation magazine voted our cloud solution EPLAN eVIEW number one in the Digitalization category,” says EPLAN Vice President Cloud Business Hauke Niehus. “It confirms our strong commitment to innovative software development in the cloud.” EPLAN Senior Director Cloud Business Software Thomas Michels adds, “EPLAN eVIEW has various facets. Not just EPLAN users in engineering, but operators of machine/plant systems also benefit from quick, easy access to project data.”

Communication and collaboration in the cloud

EPLAN eVIEW allows data generated and enriched in EPLAN Platform to be made transparently available to all project participants and stakeholders along the entire value chain – from engineering to manufacturing and assembly on to service and maintenance. Users can view project data and comment on changes. The software simply and intuitively guides users through the redlining process, supporting communication between the engineering team and on-site commissioning and service technicians. Clearly defined access rights ensure data security.

It enables easy communication and collaboration: across projects, disciplines and companies. Various departments, suppliers and even service providers work together in a paperless, secure and transparent way – with data directly from the cloud.
