Fraco Reaches Level 3 on the EPLAN Channel for Systems Integrators

December 13, 2023

Elevating their game to the next (EPLAN) Level

Lifting equipment specialist Fraco completely transformed its engineering department by introducing EPLAN and taking advantage of its Smart Wiring software to bring home the production of its control panels at efficiency levels that exceeds some of Fraco’s partners.

From Pilot Project to Level 3 in three months

Fraco started as company that outsources their panel building to one that now produces its own panels. The transformation came as result of a pilot project with EPLAN. The engineering team learned to improve their design and was shown how useful the digital twin can be when combined with the EPLAN Smart Wiring software. This enables this possibility to calculate wire lengths and even prepare the wires before production.

The pilot project walked the team through the entire production process for control panels from design to engineering, manufacturing and even maintenance, using templates and reference documents customized specifically for Fraco. The EPLAN technical team spent hours with the engineering department and worked on a single project as proof-of-concept. By the end, the company gained the knowledge and the tools to create their own panels and deliver them earlier than they have been able to in the past.

On the engineering side, Fraco now designs control panels quickly, using the available parts on the EPLAN Data Portal, which houses over 1.5 million parts data from more than 460 manufacturers speeding up the planning phase of their project.

When it comes to the assembly of the control panel, they managed to save even more time by prefabricating their wires and printing their labels ahead of time. The wires are now cut to the right length, eliminating waste.

The progress made by Fraco through the pilot project coupled with their experience with EPLAN puts the company in the discussion to be recognized for their proficiency in routing and automation. This is a Level 3 achievement on the EPLAN Channel for Systems Integrators Program (ECSI).

By implementing the changes in their process, the once small platform maker has truly elevated their game into rising above its competition.

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
