Boîtiers STA & NOARK: Powering Reliability Across Public & Private Sectors

With over 40 years of field experience, electrical contractor Guy St-Amour developed an innovative product that led to the founding of Boîtiers STA. In 2011, a special request for a safe outlet for an 800-amp mobile load bank resulted in the prototype for a line of custom-made boxes designed for quick and secure electrical connections. Boîtiers STA quickly grew from a garage operation into a thriving business, now co-owned by Guy’s daughter, Karianne St-Amour. Boîtiers STA turned to NOARK when their previous supplier discontinued its 1200A circuit breaker. Karianne St-Amour says: “We really like the NOARK product, and everything about the company: efficient service, quick delivery, extended warranty. Our customers appreciate the product, so we have decided to continue with NOARK as they are always coming up with unique products and features. The frame is not only more appealing, but more effective and safer. Clients also love the warranty and quality – this opens up new opportunities in new markets and puts us ahead of the curve.”

NOARK: Battle of the Breakers – MCCBs vs ACBs

Circuit breakers serve crucial functions. They rapidly stop faulty electric currents to prevent costly damage to equipment. Their designs differ depending on intended use and load capacities. Two common categories are Molded Case Circuit Breakers and Air Circuit Breakers. Though each disconnects power during problems, they have unique attributes. These make one preferred over the other for a given installation or application. Therefore, it’s useful for installers to know the features and differences in ACBs and MCCBs to select the right solution.

SmartD: How the Clean Power VFD Solves Long Cable Run Issues
| | | | | | | | | | | |

SmartD: The Long Cable Run Dilemma – Where Should You Install the VFD?

The long cable run dilemma – where should you install the VFD? Sophia, a dedicated electrical engineer in a large industrial complex, has been tasked with installing a drive system where the motor is located hundreds of meters away from the control room. Like many engineers before her, she considers the usual question. Should I place the drive in the electrical room or near the motor itself? Placing the Drive in the Electrical Room: On the plus side, it keeps delicate electronics in a clean, temperature-controlled environment, making servicing easier and extending the drive’s lifespan. However, this setup demands long cable runs to the remote motor, which can mean voltage spikes, special filters, and potentially higher costs due to larger cable cross-sections and EMI concerns.

4 Opportunities for Automation in Die Casting
| |

Convergix: 4 Opportunities for Automation in Die Casting

Die casting is a popular process for good reason. It produces castings quickly and consistently, with a high level of precision, and can minimize the amount of post-processing needed for the final product. The dies themselves, as well as the injection and processing equipment, represent a significant capital investment up-front—but for high-volume production, the efficiency gains are a clear win. Processes that hinge on this kind of precision and repeatability are excellent candidates for automation—in these cases, automated systems can act as a multiplier, creating efficiency gains at every step. Additionally, die casting involves high temperatures, pressurized molten metal, and other potentially dangerous materials that can represent a risk to worker safety. Introducing robots that can tolerate such conditions helps create safer and more comfortable work environments for human operators, and delays wear and tear on existing equipment.

Littelfuse ESR Series Expands to Include a Blown Fuse Indicator & External Microswitch

The Littelfuse ESR series of fuses is designed specifically to protect battery racks in energy storage systems, inverters, and many other dc applications. The 1500 V dc high-speed square body fuse is extremely fast-acting to respond quickly to a range of fault currents to safeguard the battery module or other devices. This Class aBat partial range fuse provides highly effective short circuit protection and a low minimum breaking capacity (MBC)—from 300 % or 3 times the fuse’s rated current to 250 kA—to cover a range of over currents that traditional high-speed partial range fuses do not protect against. The ESR series fuse safely interrupts most faults in a battery storage system to avoid catastrophic failures and costly shutdowns.
