Barrier Glands Enhance Pepperl+Fuchs Electrical Explosion Protection Portfolio

July 17, 2019

IEC 60079-14 requires that ‘Ex d’ installations in explosion-hazardous areas use special cable glands to prevent explosions from escaping the flameproof enclosure. For these applications, Pepperl+Fuchs is introducing a range of barrier glands that not only ensure explosion protection for electrical equipment but also offer advantages during installation.

Intelligent Design for Safe Wiring

Listed under the type code CG.B*, the ATEX and IECEx certified barrier glands are available for armored (CG.BA) and non-armored (CG.BN) cables. Installation is quick and easy, and the risk of errors is minimized by captive cable armoring components: when opening a Pepperl+Fuchs barrier gland for initial installation, the individual components do not simply fall apart, as is the case with many competitor products. The intelligent design of the barrier glands builds on the existing portfolio of cable glands from Pepperl+Fuchs. Users can quickly select from the whole portfolio with identical clamping types, clamping sizes, and thread sizes. Because the sealing compound does not require vertical alignment for curing, the cable glands are well suited for on-site installation. The sealing compound is also long-lasting and allowsstorage for 24 months.

One More Building Block

Barrier glands, cable glands, and other accessories complement the wide portfolio of terminal boxes, control stations, and control panels from Pepperl+Fuchs. Various types of protection and enclosure styles allow the most flexible, efficient control and distribution solutions to be designed for any application and industrial environment. Experienced project engineers at Pepperl+Fuchs Solution Engineering Centers—located worldwide—help users find the best solution for any requirement.

Barrier Glands Highlights

  • Internally secured barriers enable quick and safe installation
  • Long-lasting sealing compound allows storage for 24 months
  • Ideally suited for on-site installation
  • ATEX and IECEx certified
  • Design identical to popular CG.AR cable glands for armored cables

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
