New Radio Actuator for Finder BLISS2: A Combination That Simplifies Complex Systems

Finder’s BLISS2 is a Smart versatile thermostat that can be used in almost any residential or comercial environment. But when one or more are used with the new radio actuator Type 13.21.8.230.S000 they can offer a complete solution for the management of complex systems from single zone to extensive multi-zone heating/cooling and humidity control systems.

Thanks to the 868 MHz long-range radio frequency transmission, this actuator is a very versatile device that can be incorporated into a new, or inserted into an existing heating/cooling system. Commonly it can be used to activate or shutdown the ignition of a boiler directly, or to control the solenoid valves of individual heating zones – its versatility is particularly useful in cases where it is inconvenient or impossible to route control cables to the BLISS2 or solenoid valves.

These types of complex applications require specific functions for  heating, cooling, zone Master heating and zone Master cooling which this actuator can provide.

This new actuator can also be used as a hygrostat, mirroring the humidity signal detected by the RH sensor mounted within the BLISS2, which can then be used to control a dehumidifier or forced ventilation system.
It also offers a new “contact duplication” feature where the actuator contact mirrors the opening and closing of the thermostat contacts, regardless of the mode of use set for the BLISS2.

A SMART DEVICE FOR MAXIMUM COMFORT

The modular nature of the BLISS2 allows for the connection of up to 10 devices to a single Gateway2, opening the possibility of creating multi-zone systems without tortuous cable-runs, thanks in particular to the new Type 13.21-S000 actuator. Widen the scope of applications that you can address by making products Made in Italy by Finder your perfect partner.

Similarly, Finder’s Smart thermostat can easily interface with systems of different type or size (traditional radiator, under-floor, heat pump, fan coil and many others).

As mentioned earlier; with the installation of several thermostats and actuators connected to zone valves of an under-floor system it is possible to create customized climatic areas, easily, quickly and with far less cable-work.

OPERATION AND APPLICATIONS

The long range radio frequency communication between the BLISS2, the actuator (13.21-S000) and the Gateway2 (Type 1Y.GU0051) eliminates many of the problems arising from the routing of the cables that would normally go from the thermostat to the boiler and/or to the zone valves.

Climate control systems that include the BLISS2 Smart thermostat enjoy inter-communication between the various devices and remote control via your smartphone – all thanks to the free Finder BLISS app. And by the same token, it is possible to optimize the position of the thermostat which, thanks to the battery power supply – lasting over a year and a half – can be placed in the most suitable place for monitoring the temperature while the actuator(s) can be installed in the boiler room to activate/de-activate the system or near the water manifold in zoned systems.

The system can also be controlled by voice commands, thanks to integration with the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants, a fundamental requirement for any smart device.

Technical info of the new single contact RF 868MHz actuator:

  •    –   1 CO output contact rated 16 A 250 VAC
  •    –   Power supply voltage 110… 230 V AC
  •    –   1 reset button on the head
  •    –   Programmable from the Finder BLISS application
  •    –   QR code for matching
  •    –   Can be combined with the Smart BLISS2 thermostat
  •    –   868MHz long range transmission

868MHZ ACTUATOR AND SOME APPLICATION CASES:

This new 868MHz actuator can be installed as a “support” for the thermostat if it is located in a less than ideal location or is in a multiple “zone” installation, such as different zones for night/day occupation, first floor/second floor etc..

In the first case above and thanks to the installation of the actuator, the thermostat will not be bound to the point where the contacts are needed and can therefore be placed in an area considered appropriate for maximum comfort. However, in the second case by placing an actuator near each zone solenoid it is possible to more easily manage a system comprising zones over several rooms or floors.

THE ADVANTAGES OF THE 13.21-S000 ACTUATOR

The new actuator solves the problem of passing cables from the thermostat to the zone valve or from the thermostat to the boiler, thanks to long-range radio communication. Furthermore, the availability of a volt-free changeover output contact allows easy interface with this new actuator:

  •    –   The boiler card input
  •    –   The input of the air conditioner card
  •    –   The zone valve
  •    –   The general valve
  •    –   The general pump
  •    –   The fan coil
  •    –   Electric radiant panels

ADVANCED Motion Controls Takes Servo Drives to New Heights (and Depths) with FlexPro Extended Environment Product Line

Advanced Motion Controls is proud to announce the addition of six new CANopen servo drives with Extended Environment capabilities to their FlexPro line. These new drives join AMC’s existing EtherCAT Extended Environment FlexPro drives, making the FlexPro line the go-to solution for motion control applications in harsh environments.

Many motion control applications take place in conditions that are less than ideal, such as extreme temperatures, high and low pressures, shocks and vibrations, and contamination. Electronics, including servo drives, can malfunction or sustain permanent damage in these conditions.
